I still read spec sheets. I still compare brands and models. But that's the final step in the process, not the first one. The printer—even a great one from a reputable manufacturer—is the tail end of a purchasing decision. The dog is the work itself.

Matching the tool to the job, being honest about what a machine can and can't do, and measuring cost against actual output have saved this company far more than any discount I've ever negotiated. That's the real lesson from five years of buying too many printers. Trust me on this one.
