UV printers cure ink with ultraviolet light as they print, which lets them handle an enormous range of materials: rigid sheets, acrylic, metal, wood, glass, even leather. A Panda UV printer is a common entry-to-mid-range flatbed choice; the typical setup I've seen in small shops includes a print bed around 13" × 32" and a separate cure system. A high-resolution UV printer, usually a tier above entry level, delivers finer detail for small text and gradients on packaging and signage.
UV is also the most demanding technology I've managed. Ink adhesion depends on the surface energy of the substrate, so pre-treatment is often required. Operators need real training. And here's something that surprised me: a "high resolution" UV printer can still lose to a lower-resolution model with a faster print carriage, because in daily production, throughput matters more than dots per inch for most jobs.
